Kryptopyrroles Test
It is a test for a group of chemical called pyrroles, which when in excess can dramatically affect the nervous system. Pyrroles are tested in the urine and when elevated called pyrroluria.
What causes Pyrroluria?
Elevated kryptopyrrole levels result from an abnormality in haemoglobin the protein that holds iron in red blood cells.
Pyroluria is a feature of many behavioral and emotional disorders. It is believed that its comes from an inborn error in pyrrole chemistry, resulting in a dramatic zinc and vitamin B6 deficiency. It is mostly common in females but also seen in males. Pyrroluria often first manifests as behavioral abnormalities in children and can continue on into adulthood.

How is the test performed?
Your MAAC Naturopath will provide you with a kit to take home and collect a urine sample. The sample will be sent off to a specialized lab to evaluate the results.
Is there a treatment for Kryptopyrroles?
Kryptopyrroles is easily treated once identified. Vitamin B6, Zinc, Biotin and omega 6 is usually the standard treatment to correct this condition.
